It’s Time You Learned To

Women across the globe look to develop and exude confidence in romantic relationships, among their friend groups, and of course – at work. Whether you’re in a newer business or personal relationship, confidence can get your ideas heard, urge the next step in your progression at work, allow people to get to know the real you, and entitle you to be your authentic self at all times.

As the political climate across nations worldwide slides more toward the development of women, it’s crucial to assert and remain confident to retain your standing and excel to reach your personal and professional goals.

If you’re not currently exuding your confidence as a woman, it’s high time you started! Once you practice confidence, it becomes more natural over time – like a habit. Before you know it, you’ll be the most confident woman in the room.

Lift your chin, throw your shoulders back, and let’s dig into the “hows” of growing your confidence.

Demand Respect Because You Deserve It

When you’re participating in a professional or even personal conversation and your ideas, thoughts, or even just your words aren’t being heard or taken into account – you might feel a bit disrespected.

Practice getting those thoughts, feelings, and ideas out with people you know and with whom you are comfortable. It’s easier to be yourself (and practice confidence) with people who already know you inside and out. Be firm about your feelings and in time, confidence will grow in other areas of your life – and with other people.

It’s OK to Say No

It’s perfectly natural to disagree with someone or something – you don’t have to be a “yes-woman.”  It’s OK to say No!  When asked to do something you’re not comfortable with, it may be challenging to refuse, but doing so in alignment with your personal values and ethics boosts your inner strength and confidence.

Look as Confident as You Want to Be

When you feel your best on the inside, you’ll exude more confidence on the outside. Dress in clothing that makes you feel like you can take over the world, wear that bold-coloured lipstick, and put on those higher heels – if that’s what does the trick for you. The “look of confidence” will appear different for everyone – but the outside can affect what’s going on inside so give it a try.

Maintain a Growth Mindset

When you’re committed to personal and professional growth, you tend to react in ways that advance your cause and with each little win, comes a boost of more confidence. Keep celebrating each and every win, no matter how small you think it is to come out on top with your own healthy dose of confidence as you work to reach your goals.

Body Language Speaks the Loudest

When your shoulders droop and your head sinks down, even subconsciously, people will respond to your lack of perceived confidence. When you cross your arms and legs, it sends a subliminal message that you’re not interested in what the other person has to say or can come off as defensive.

Fix that posture, speak your truth, and make eye contact to grow your confidence in every situation.
